Etsy Friday - New Merchandise in the Shop - Wearable Art
I have always wanted to make wearable arts with my illustrations. Something that is useful and nice to look at, like a pendant necklace. Yet there are a lot to consider especially on the colour and type of pendant, as well as the overall packaging. After a few months of research, I have settled on this simple round pendant that suits my illustration style. Finally, I'm having my very own handmade necklaces :D *yay~*
Luna Necklace

Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone is really rewarding. This is my first time of making jewellery and unexpectedly, it is not as difficult as I imagined. Matter of fact, I really enjoyed the making process! Still I have to admit, the most difficult part for me is the photography! It is very challenging to cope with the reflective glass and sunlight. As you can tell, they are not professionally shot and you might spot my reflection in some of the photos, lolz!
The necklaces are available at my shop right now :)
New illustration is in progress and perhaps some sneak peak on Sunday night.
Happy Weekend and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

Inspiration Wednesday - Anna Emilia
It takes a lot of patience to become an artist:
patience to develop own style, slowly and profoundly
patience to nurture an idea before putting it onto canvas,
patience to complete the every last details of the artwork beautifully.
An artist might not need to say anything about her patience, but we as audience can definitely tell it from her artwork :) So as Anna Emilia who is very patient in her beautiful artworks.

The details in her artwork are really phenomenal! You can find more at her Website or Shop.

Luna - illustration
This 'Luna' illustration took me some time to finish but I'm quite happy with the final outcome, especially the details on her dress, the hopping bunnies and colours of the trees. Inspired by Luna, the goddess of the moon, and her repeating life cycle of full, crescent and new moons, seems like no matter how busy I am in my life or how much tasks I need to accomplish, I still need to catch some breath =)
Whilst in the midst of settling down and recovering from the culture shock, I realise that I have been filling every second of my life with many different tasks since the middle of August: clearing the house, farewell with friends, house moving, settling down and sourcing new supplies.
Time seems like never enough for me and often found myself staying up late night hoping to settle at least some of the tasks. I have been whispering to myself 'I'm working so hard now so that I can have some breaks later' or 'after this, just one more of this' yet the one task finish, a new one follow immediately. The 'short breaks' seems so far away =p
Finally from today onwards until the middle of the month, I can get some rest. Still, I wouldn't kick myself back into that endless cycle of working so soon.
Hence, I will take it slower this month for my shops and take a deep look at my life again. I'm going to make it a "Stress-free September" for me ;p So, I'm setting a very small goal for both of my shop:
yeevon's illustration
1) to have 5 sales (achieved on 30/09/2010)
2) 5 new items (achieved on 10/09/2010, YESH!)
whimsy whimsical paper goods
1) to have 10 sales (achieved 18 on 30/09/2010)
2) 3 new items (none, will add on to October goal)
I'm in my new moon phase right now :D

New Mini Handmade Notebook
Few mini handmade notebooks have added to my shop. They can be lovely little gifts to someone special or you can keep them for yourself ♥ Compared to my last sets of whimsical notebook, I have added more pages to these new sets. Each notebook comes with 48 pages so you can use it as a sketchbook as well. They are mini and can be easily kept in your bag and bring around.
On the other hand, each handmade notebook featuring my girl illustrations is hand coloured with pencil and colour pencils. But not to worry, I have fixed it with fixative sprays to prevent smudging :D

Etsy Friday - Improvement
There is always room for improvement.
So true. Especially for your own business. Nothing seems enough at the moment so you have to, or need to keep on improving it. Photos can be better, so retake and retake. Items are never enough, so you create everyday and list them to the shop. Promotion can be better, so you spend a lot of time in socialising and promoting. However, there is only one you.
At the moment, I don't have much commitment that will take up a lot of my attention. So I have a lot time to brainstorm, to create and to promote. It is quite flexible and I'm enjoy doing it even though it is stressful at times. What if, in near future, my free time has become a luxury? And I have only 3 hours a day for the business, instead of 13 hours I'm having right now? How should I focus in order to get the most out of my limited time frame?
I heard about of one's concentration will increase the efficiency of one's productivity and lessen the time spent. Even you have the whole world of time to do something, but if you are easily distracted, your productivity will not equal to your time spent. I'm still trying my best to focus on what I should be doing right now (blogging) but instead I was distracted and went over to make this little graph... hmm, the word 'concentration' seems so far away from me =p
I have just added a set of 10 invitation cards to Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods. They are great for birthday or tea party invites *sipping early grey tea with little finger up in the air*
On the other hand, Two Souls, One Heart is available as a postcard at yeevon etsy shop right now as well :D Yippie!
Another 10 more days before the end of August! Enjoy every last bit of it :D
Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Yee Von

Thursday Updates - Original Illustrations and Postcards
Cosmic Stories I, II and III are my first set of original illustrations for chanyeevon.etsy.com :) They feature the stories of three sisters - Annabelle, Audrey and Anne. Each girl is unique and has her own characteristics.
Annabelle - Make A Wish
She is the caring, the protective and the motherly eldest sister.
Audrey - Upon The Stars
She is the carefree, the merry and the adventurous second sister.
Anne - Catching Dream
As for the youngest sister among the three, she is sweet, lovable and always curious about her surroundings.
They are available at my etsy shop right now :)
On the other hand, two halloween postcards have added to Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods. They come in either a set of five or single postcard. You can use them to send your spooky halloween greetings, or simply pin them up to the fridge as mini art print :D
p/s: there will be another two updates soon for both shops: each for one of them =p

Inspiration Wednesday - Jaime Zollars
I have always wanted to have her in my Inspiration Wednesday but I have been busy for the last couple of weeks. Finally now I have the time to share her works with you all :D Enjoy~
Jaime Zollars, an artist from Los Angeles, has a sense of dark whimsical in her children illustrations which I find kinda spooky but fascinating at the same time. However, the colour palettes, textures and dimensional view in her artworks are what truly inspired me.
My favourite would be this one - a spectacular view of birds in a hall. The facial expression on the children (and the white stork) are marvelous :D
