New Mini Handmade Notebook

Few mini handmade notebooks have added to my shop. They can be lovely little gifts to someone special or you can keep them for yourself ♥ Compared to my last sets of whimsical notebook, I have added more pages to these new sets. Each notebook comes with 48 pages so you can use it as a sketchbook as well. They are mini and can be easily kept in your bag and bring around.
On the other hand, each handmade notebook featuring my girl illustrations is hand coloured with pencil and colour pencils. But not to worry, I have fixed it with fixative sprays to prevent smudging :D

Etsy Friday - Improvement

There is always room for improvement.

So true. Especially for your own business. Nothing seems enough at the moment so you have to, or need to keep on improving it. Photos can be better, so retake and retake. Items are never enough, so you create everyday and list them to the shop. Promotion can be better, so you spend a lot of time in socialising and promoting. However, there is only one you.

At the moment, I don't have much commitment that will take up a lot of my attention. So I have a lot time to brainstorm, to create and to promote. It is quite flexible and I'm enjoy doing it even though it is stressful at times. What if, in near future, my free time has become a luxury? And I have only  3 hours a day for the business, instead of 13 hours I'm having right now? How should I focus in order to get the most out of my limited time frame?

I heard about of one's concentration will increase the efficiency of one's productivity and lessen the time spent. Even you have the whole world of time to do something, but if you are easily distracted, your productivity will not equal to your time spent. I'm still trying my best to focus on what I should be doing right now (blogging) but instead I was distracted and went over to make this little graph... hmm, the word 'concentration' seems so far away from me =p
I have just added a set of 10 invitation cards to Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods. They are great for birthday or tea party invites *sipping early grey tea with little finger up in the air*
On the other hand, Two Souls, One Heart is available as a postcard at yeevon etsy shop right now as well :D Yippie!
Another 10 more days before the end of August! Enjoy every last bit of it :D
Have a great weekend!

Cheers,
Yee Von

Thursday Updates - Original Illustrations and Postcards

Cosmic Stories I, II and III are my first set of original illustrations for chanyeevon.etsy.com :) They feature the stories of three sisters - Annabelle, Audrey and Anne. Each girl is unique and has her own characteristics.

Annabelle - Make A Wish
She is the caring, the protective and the motherly eldest sister.

Audrey - Upon The Stars
She is the carefree, the merry and the adventurous second sister.
Anne - Catching Dream
As for the youngest sister among the three, she is sweet, lovable and always curious about her surroundings.

They are available at my etsy shop right now :)

On the other hand, two halloween postcards have added to Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods. They come in either a set of five or single postcard. You can use them to send your spooky halloween greetings, or simply pin them up to the fridge as mini art print :D

p/s: there will be another two updates soon for both shops: each for one of them =p

Inspiration Wednesday - Jaime Zollars

I have always wanted to have her in my Inspiration Wednesday but I have been busy for the last couple of weeks. Finally now I have the time to share her works with you all :D Enjoy~

Jaime Zollars, an artist from Los Angeles, has a sense of dark whimsical in her children illustrations which I find kinda spooky but fascinating at the same time. However, the colour palettes, textures and dimensional view in her artworks are what truly inspired me.

My favourite would be this one - a spectacular view of birds in a hall. The facial expression on the children (and the white stork) are marvelous :D

You can get to know more about Jaime Zollars through her blog Here or her online store Here.

Etsy Friday - My days

It seems like I have taken a long vacation from my blog. But I'm back now :)

August has been tip toeing behind my back while I'm busy off at my projects. It is already the middle of August. Another two more weeks, I will be at another different place with different time zone. Before that, there are so much things to do yet I feel like savouring every second I'm having right now.

Early of the month, I was invited to join Baetulona Project - a group exhibition to portray the most important historical moments in the city of  Badalona and its most famous characters. It was a great challenge to try something that I have never done before (Thank You).
My given theme was Vicenç Roca i Pi, a merchant who had donated all his fortune to the poor people in Badalona (such a nice guy!). He was honored with a monument that represented him and was placed in the middle of La Rambla de Badalona.
Due to the closing deadline, I have to finish it in less than few days but the etching part took me almost 28 hours (It was a massive size indeed), it was fun and I kinda like how it turned out eventually with the subtle moonbeam, glowing balloons and the little boy's smiley face. If you are interested to look at the process and details, you can find them HERE.

Next week, I will be rushing another two more projects which hopefully can finish them before the end of the month. Of course, I will not be missing any of my girl illustrations as well =p

I have uploaded another notecard to my Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods :) Even though she was one of my early sketches (like in February?) but I still like her a lot. She is still waiting for her true love - her only prince. Hope she will find him very soon.

Weekend is around the corner yet I'm still very busy with a lot of things. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend :)

xoxo!

Illustrations: Tara & Vera - The Sisters

Just managed to finish this new set of illustrations, dedicated to my lovely sister. She has been continuously supporting me for what I'm doing now. I'm so blessed to have a sister like her :)
The star sign constellation is inspired by her birth sign.
and this is Vera, who born under the star of Virgo.

Now I shall back to get more sleep...

Currently, I'm rushing projects and putting all my attention to it (so that I can finish it asap).

The mini notecard for this week is... I'm Sorry. Available at Whimsy Whimsical etsy shop.

Suggestion:

i. Replaced the bacon in your love one sandwich after a big fight

ii. Slip into your dad's wallet after you lost his favourite fountain pen

iii. Put on the pillow and slowly sneak out the hotel room after a drunk night

Any fun/hilarious suggestion of using this mini notecard? :)

Illustrations: Treat or Trick? Or Peak-A-Boo?

Halloween is months away but I have finally finished these two halloween-theme illustrations for Whimsy Whimsical shop. More Whimsy Whimsical Forest folks have joined the team: Mrs Goose and two of her darling goslings, mysterious black cat, and Mr Stork as the spooky vampire (haha).

So, which one is your favourite?

*My blog schedules are terribly messed up =p Thank you all for your kind understanding*

Whimsy Whimsical

This was what happened last night:

I went to register a new account for my new shop on 12am, 1 August 2010 cause I think it is nice to have new shop the starting of month instead of the end of a month. After I put the required details, I'm waiting for the confirmation email from Etsy. After 18 hours of waiting, I realized that I didn't click on the 'Submit' button......... which explained why the new shop's launching was late! Silly me.

Anyway, I will let my marketing manager, Mr Fox do the opening speeches now :) *clap clap*

"Hi, I'm Mr Fox, the manager of Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods. I will take care any of your enquiries from now :)

Me and my love, Mrs Fox are staying at the east side of Whimsy Whimsical Forest with plenty of sunshine and wild berries. This shop is actually belong to Yee Von whom I have met in June 2010. She is a freelance illustrator from Malaysia. After a few chat, she kindly invited me to take care of this new shop while she's busy with her own one.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm happy to assist you :) You can always drop by when you are free. Mrs Fox prepares the nicest tea and fresh scones! Thank you *bow*"

This is how the new shop looks like :)

And my original shop. They have so little items (haha!) but I will try my best to fill them up!

Mr Fox and I have come out a small goal for month of August:

1) to have 10 sales (achieved 18/08/2010, achieved 20 on 27/08/2010)
2) to have 100 people to heart the shop (done on 11/08/2010, 200 done on 18/08/2010, 300 done on 22/08/2010)
3) a total of 10 new paper good items (we shall keep it a secret for the moment)

Thank you all :)
All the best!
